Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
As Nevada’s Attorney General, I helped lead a 21-state lawsuit against the Obama
Administration’s unconstitutional “Overtime Rule,” which would have forced small businesses across the country to fire their employees and stop offering services that require a large staff. The Overtime Rule would have ratcheted up the cost of labor every three years without requiring our Congress to vote on any new laws. Small business owners would have had no say
in the overtime wages they would have been forced to pay. My lawsuit halted the Overtime Rule and saved small businesses from closing their doors and firing their staff.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
Along the campaign trail, I’ve had the honor of attending the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce annual gala, the Vietnamese chamber of commerce 10th anniversary celebration, and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations’ yearly conference. I hosted an Asian Pacific American Heritage Month event at Starz Café with Utah Attorney General Sean
Reyes as well as an Indian American event with the former Director of National Intelligence Rick Grenell at Saffron Flavors of India in Las Vegas. I also launched my APAs for Laxalt coalition at Lee’s Korean BBQ in Las Vegas. I’ve written a lengthy Op-Ed outlining my positions in the Asian Journal, and my campaign team has launched a Tagalog website. As Nevada’s Attorney General, I established regular Law Enforcement Summits, the first-of-its-kind Office of Military Legal Assistance, the bipartisan “Prescription for Addiction” initiative, the “Financial Fraud and
Guardianship Abuse Unit,” and I worked with law enforcement to process more than 8,000 rape kits from Nevada's backlog, which had left victims waiting for justice for years before action was taken.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
As Nevada’s next U.S. Senator, I will vote against the Biden-Harris Administration’s attempts to raise taxes on small businesses and harass small business owners through their new army of 87,000 IRS agents. At a time when inflation in Nevada is 15.4%, gas nears $5 per gallon, and basic supplies are harder to find due to supply chain and labor shortages, the last thing we need are tax hikes and audits. These radical policies will only hurt Nevada’s AANHPI small business
community. As your Senator, I’ll vote against the Biden Administration’s plans to target small businesses.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I'll fight to stop the reckless spending causing record inflation and I'll work to remove leftist limitations on American energy resources that increase prices at the pump. Crime is out of control in our states and along our border. I'll stop the onerous attempts to defund our police and fight to ensure our border is actually secure. I am running to be a voice for Nevada families and to give representation to those who have been forgotten by the establishment in Washington, DC. Small business owners have certainly been forgotten by the Biden Harris Administration and the Democrat party.

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
Small businesses are the engine that drive of our economy, which is why I made them a priority in my first term. My office distributed over $100 million in grants to nearly 10,000 small businesses during the pandemic, opened the Office of Small Business Advocacy, launched Nevada’s first ever Small Business Accelerator Program and created Gener8tor programs in Las Vegas and Reno to provide small businesses and startups with additional funding. Thanks in part to these actions, last year Nevadans applied to start more new businesses than any other year since 2005.
But I know there is always more work to do, which is why I launched my “Summer of Small Business” tour to ensure I’m hearing directly from small business owners from every community about how I can best support them in a second term. Additionally, I am committed to making sure our small business owners have equitable access to grants and capital, keeping Nevada a low tax, pro-business state, and continuing to invest in education to build a high-skilled workforce.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
I have been fortunate during my campaign and as Governor to be welcomed into so many AANHPI meetings, celebrations, religious services, and community events. Just recently, I attended the opening of the “Healthy Asians and Pacific Islanders” (HAPI) medical center, which aims to meet the healthcare needs of the AANHPI community with its fully bilingual staff.
I know the AANHPI community in Nevada has a unique voice and perspective, which is why I formed an advisory council in May made up of local AANHPI leaders to give feedback to my campaign. Additionally, during my first term I created the Office for New Americans, signed Nevada’s first English Language Learners Bill of Rights, and gave our home health care workers — made up of so many AANHPI Nevadans — well-deserved bonuses. I also have and will continue to advocate for J-1 teacher visas to support our teachers, students, and communities to allow educators from countries like the Philippines to practice in Nevada.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
I am committed to meeting directly with AANHPI small business owners and hearing how I can incorporate their feedback and expertise into our decision-making process. I will also continue to keep Nevada a low tax, pro-business state, lower costs for our working families, and take steps to diversify our economy. By eliminating bureaucratic red tape and reforming occupational licensing processes, AANHPI small businesses will be able to get off the ground quickly and efficiently. Additionally, by investing in education, we will build a high-skilled, diverse workforce. Lastly, I will make sure all of our small business owners have equitable access to grants and capital, no matter their background.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
This election is about choices and keeping our state moving in the right direction. While I’ve spent my first term growing our economy, supporting small businesses, lowering costs and keeping our state open and welcome, my opponent has kept Nevadans in the dark on critical issues.
I kept Nevada a low-tax state, invested $500 million into affordable housing, gave teachers their first raise in over a decade, funded schools at their highest levels in state history, and used $360 million to make high-quality child care more affordable and accessible. I’m working to make health care more affordable by joining the Northwest Prescription Drug Consortium and lowering prescription drug costs by up to 80%, establishing a public health care option, and protecting reproductive freedom.
I have always said that our diversity is our strength but only when that strength is recognized. As your governor, I will keep Nevada open and welcoming to all.

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
During my 34-year tenure at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, I’ve had the honor of working with countless small businesses across the Las Vegas Valley. As sheriff, I’ve made it a priority to partner with and communicate with small business owners, so that LVMPD can better protect small businesses, which are a vital part of our economy and community.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
Throughout my time in Clark County law enforcement, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to consistently work with leaders within the AANHPI community for the betterment of our community and our city.
Now as Sheriff, I have the opportunity to meet monthly with the LVMPD Multi-Cultural Advisory Council, which is made up of 30 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members from the AANHPI community.
Through my work with Multi-Cultural Advisory Council, I’ve strived to ensure that the council serves as a direct resource for LVMPD staff. The council helps LVMPD officers and employees develop more cultural competence and awareness, which allows Metro to provide respectful and responsive service to the diverse populations in our county.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
The AANHPI community is an important part of Nevada’s population and an amazing part of Nevada’s culture. As governor, I’ll continue to work with this community and elevate their voices, just as I have done as Sheriff. I’ll work to ensure that Nevada’s small businesses have every chance to succeed and never see widespread permanent closures again, as tens of thousands of small businesses experienced when Governor Sisolak shut down the economy.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
Over the past two years, Nevada has faced unprecedented economic challenges. It’s time for Nevada to have a leader in Carson City who can balance a budget, effectively manage our state, and ensure businesses can succeed. I currently oversee a $1.3 billion annual budget as Sheriff, so I know how to manage a large budget and make every dollar count for taxpayers. I have the steady leadership and proven experience that Nevadans can trust to get our state back on track.

for Attorney General
Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
Back in 2020 when Governor Sisolak and Attorney General Ford shutdown our economy and forced small businesses to close, I stood with small businesses and sued Governor Sisolak to protect the American dream of business ownership. When Governor Sisolak and Attorney General Ford forced places of worship to close, I once again sued the current administration in Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain V Sisolak and won, forcing Governor Sisolak to allow places of worship to have the same capacities as other businesses.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
Small businesses are the bedrock of the Asian community, along with their rights to free exercise of their religion. I have been very vocal about my Opposition to Aaron Ford's Amicus Brief in SFFA v Harvard and his failure to utilize the office of Attorney General to eliminate the escalation of Hate crimes in Nevada. I will continue to address mandatory minimum enhancements for hate crime offenses across Nevada.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
As the next Attorney General there is a lot I can do to help support the AANHPI Small Business and community. First and foremost, it is supporting our law enforcement. With the rise in organized theft and anti-Asian hate, we must provide our law enforcement with the necessary tools to keep our communities and businesses safe. Lastly, I can promise you this, as the next Attorney General I will never under any circumstance force businesses to close.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I am a fighter, and my track record proves that. I have seen what happens when Nevadans' rights are not respected. I have dedicated my life to the pursuit of justice on behalf of all Nevadans, demanding the rights of all people be protected. I am backed by law enforcement throughout Nevada.

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
I have been a small business owner and have been actively involved in the small business community for several years.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
I have made it a priority in my campaign to be as involved as possible in the AANHPI community. I’ve been supported by the only two GOP Asian members of the US House, Rep. Steel and Rep. Kim. I have held several AAPI outreach events, including an AAPI Heritage Month celebration and an AAPI Stakeholder dinner. Our campaign also participated in the Year of the Tiger Lunar New Year parade. We have built a strong and robust AAPI Coalition comprised of leaders in the local Asian community.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
I think that making it easier for prospective AANHPI business owners to access information and funding to start a business is the first step. Many people are discouraged from pursuing entrepreneurship because of the high costs and onerous red tape involved in getting a business off the ground.
We must change this by cutting red tape and making it easier for members of the AANHPI community to secure funding for their small businesses. Also, I think our elected officials and community leaders must take it upon themselves to promote AANHPI small businesses on their platforms to draw attention to these establishments. Many non-Asians are unaware of many of the hidden gems we have here in the AANHPI restaurant and small business community.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
Right now, our community is suffering. Nevada has the 2nd highest gas prices in the nation; inflation is surging, and the cost of a gallon of milk or a dozen eggs are both near record highs. I’m out to change that. We deserve responsible, sensible leadership that will stand up for our families and fight for the middle class. When elected to CD3, I plan to do just that.
for Congress (District 3)
Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
COVID-19 rattled our economy and put unnecessary burdens on the shoulders of our working families and businesses. That’s why I took swift, decisive action to stand up for southern Nevadans and ensure we passed the CARES Act, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, and the American Rescue Plan. These legislative endeavors were critical to making sure our small businesses could keep their doors open and that Nevadans could still provide for their families and have access to health care and other vital services during this unprecedented economic disruption.
The American Rescue Plan helped save thousands of small businesses and over 100,000 jobs across southern Nevada. As a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, I was proud to play a critical role in negotiating the bipartisan deal on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Not only will it make investments in our state’s infrastructure, but it will also create thousands of good-paying jobs and bolster economic growth in our state and across the nation. That’s also why I voted to pass the Relief for Restaurants and Other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act to replenish funding for our restaurants and support other small businesses impacted by the pandemic. I will continue working across the aisle to ensure we deliver additional relief for our businesses, create jobs, and ensure our economy continues to flourish.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
I proudly voted to pass the bipartisan COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
The moment COVID hit Las Vegas, I contacted the AAPI business community to hear about their pressure points and needs. You can read more about that effort here: https://susielee.house.gov/media/in-the-news/rep-lee-stands-las-vegas-aapi-businesses. Public service means showing up every day for all Nevadans, and serving as a representative voice. In order to lead and serve, you must first listen to the community's needs, and I have a history of doing so and will plan to continue doing so through my continued service in Congress. Additionally, my team and I delight in highlighting remarkable small businesses throughout the district through my monthly Susie Shops Small programming, and we will continue to do so in the months to come.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I took quick action to stand up for southern Nevadans and ensure we passed the CARES Act, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, and the American Rescue Plan. These packages were essential to making sure tens of thousands of our small businesses could stay afloat and that hundreds of thousands of Nevadans’ jobs were protected. I’m proud to have stood up for Nevadans in Washington and ensure that they received the relief they needed when we were at our most vulnerable. Now, our economy is roaring back better than before, and we can focus on what lies ahead for southern Nevada.
This Congress, we were able to pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will deliver over $4 billion for critical investments in Nevada’s roads and bridges, airports, broadband, and more. As a member of the Problem Solvers Caucus, I played a critical role in negotiating the bipartisan deal on this historic bill. Not only will it make investments in our state’s infrastructure, but will also create thousands of good-paying, union jobs to support our state’s transition to a clean energy economy.
My work on the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is just a snapshot of what I’ve accomplished through reaching across the aisle. Each and every day on the Problem Solvers Caucus, I am working with my Republican counterparts to find solutions to our country’s most pressing issues—because fixing the problems that are top of mind for Americans shouldn’t be partisan. I am pleased that, due to my commitment to bipartisanship and delivering real results for our country, the Lugar Center named me the 10th most bipartisan member out of the 435 members of the House of Representatives. I am a staunch believer that we can accomplish anything when we cultivate the ground that unifies instead of divides us and that when we work together, we can find common-sense solutions with the best interests of all Americans at heart. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with my Republican colleagues in Congress to strengthen our economy, fight for our working families, and put our country on a path to a better future.

I started and ran an award winning successful Insurance agency in Las Vegas from 2015-2022. I grew this business 400% in 4 years and helped small businesses with commercial insurance and employee benefit plans. I held seminars on Social Security, Retirement Planning, and general risk management. Before running my own business, I was a business consultant for 31 independently owned and operated small businesses spanning the geography of Alaska. I am currently a member of the NFIB and have worked hard to incorporate the small business community into my campaign. I am hosting a small business round table on the 29th of September to talk directly with small business owners about the issues they are facing on a day to day basis.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
I was a member of the Asian Chamber of Commerce from 2019-2021. I have attended events across the LV valley in support of our AAPI community, and will continue to support them once I am in office.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
Inflation is out of control, and will only get worse under the tax and spend liberal ideology that has taken hold in Washington over the past 2 years. We must stop spending money we don't have to pay for things we don't need. We need to get inflation under control if businesses are to stand a chance of survival. I would also work to get rid of burdensome regulations that hamper businesses and make it harder to operate. Taxes will always need to come down, and I pledge to lower the corporate tax rate once in office.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I have a proven track record of success as a small business owner and as a retired Major in the Air Force. I'm not running to see my own face on the TV or hear myself talk. I'm running to return dignity and respect to the people of NV-04, which has been lacking under the incumbent Steven Horsford. Stephen Horsford enjoys 0% ratings by the Associated Builders and Contractors and a 17% rating from the NFIB. These ratings are exactly why ABC and NFIB are both supporting my campaign!

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
I am in residential real estate and am self employed. My husband is a small business owner.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I was born and raised in Las Vegas and know our community.
As a mother, I know that our schools must be better, because ranking near, or at the bottom, is not good enough.
As a small business owner, I know we must support local businesses and create an environment where they can grow. The more our businesses grow, the more money workers make, the more that gets invested back into our community.
I didn’t build a resume to run for office, my husband and I built our lives to provide for our family and make our community a better place to live. I’m blessed and want to help give back to the place that I love.

In my current day job, I work with many AANHPI small businesses on recovery efforts and ensuring that they have access to resources to keep their doors open by distributing important information translated to many different languages. I am the COO for the Asian Community Development Council where our mission is to assist the AANHPI communities in many direct services program such as our food pantry, immigration services, health insurance navigation, and educational programs such as the College Readiness Bootcamp and College Mentorship.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
The AANHPI community is one of the fastest growing communities in Nevada. We need to work together to uplift our small businesses and ensuring that they are visible. We also need to identify the challenges that these businesses are facing and find ways to solve these challenges. As a community convener, we have had successes with our signature Asian Night Market program to highlight local Asian restaurants and food trucks, as well as collaborating with ethnic-based organizations to promote and support the unique needs of the different AANHPI communities.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
Nevada Assembly is a citizen legislature. The current make up of the assembly is missing representatives from the non-profit sector, especially representing the AANHPI community. I am an immigrant with a diverse professional background in the corporate sector, small businesses, non-profits, and would be one of the first representatives with an AANHPI background to represent our community at the state level. The legislative process need diverse perspectives from champions with proven record in serving the communities. I am that person. Since my arrival to Nevada in 2004, I've been involved in many impactful and meaningful initiatives to move our community forward. I look forward to represent one of the largest AANHPI districts in the state of Nevada on issues of importance to our communities such as education, workforce innovation, access to quality healthcare, and enhancing our small businesses.

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
I have helped small businesses through multiple avenues. As a non-profit founder, we would work with students' families and host fundraisers to use their
services for events so that we could highlight their work as well as pay for their services. In the campaign, I have helped small businesses by hosting my
campaign watch party at a local ramen restaurant in Assembly District 14 to launch canvasses from local restaurants paying for products while also amplifying
them on social media. As a LLC owner, I know the importance of amplifying, supporting and using small businesses in and throughout our community.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
I'm proud to be part of the AANHPI community as a proud Filipina. Whether it's been running the Asian Community Development Council's College Readiness Bootcamp for youth and parents, serving as an OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates mentor to college students to empowering AANHPI youth from East Las Vegas to become civically involved, I have spent the past 14 years in Las Vegas working on equitable education for AANHPI and other marginalized communities.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
As a candidate, one way I have promoted and supported AANHPI small businesses has been to intentionally order food for volunteers from restaurants in my community that are AANHPI small businesses to show my primary volunteer appreciation. Other ways we can promote and support these businesses are to to get to know the owners and staff members, ask them ways they would like to get involved or need support and be intentional about sharing resources and opportunities with them and bringing business their way.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I am the best candidate for Assembly District 14 because as a first-generation college graduate and daughter of a Filipino immigrant, I know what it takes to be resilient, have empathy and outwork others to get the job done. As a non-profit Founder, I understand what it takes to raise and manage a budget and as a former teacher I understand what it takes to authentically engage the community. I have a Master's Degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Education in Education Policy and I have worked at both high level policy and grassroots advocacy.

I have chosen for years to do business with several AANHPI businesses and have built relationships with those small business entrepreneurs as our values align in free market principles, all business is essential and local is best!
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
I believe all businesses will be boosted by conservative legislators who champion lower taxes, reduced regulations, ease of business licensing processes and a focus on supporting our small businesses in the community.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I am committed to stand for conservative, constitutional laws which remove government bureaucracies and useless red tape which hinders small business start-up. I will not compromise and expect those who vote for me to hold me accountable. I have no interest in higher office and would like to serve the people of District 34 and Nevada by putting their needs as priority. I traveled to Vietnam to work with nonprofits on the ground in order to assist with efforts to encourage more internet freedom and press freedom. The government in Vietnam heavily regulates the internet and we helped to provide VPNs and other options for bypassing government censors.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
First, I believe Las Vegas needs a Little Tokyo and I will work with Japanese-owned businesses to make that happen. Second, there are serious issue with access to funding (several Filipino entrepreneurs have expressed these concerns). I believe the County Commission can create programs to provide opportunities for AANHPI businesses to have better access to capital. Finally, there are ways to improve traffic flow, protect pedestrians and reduce congestion in the Spring Mountain Corridor (including Chinatown and Koreatown) in a way that is more welcoming for local patrons and encourages more investment into the area.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I have a 25-year career working at free market, pro-business think tanks where I have written legislation that reduced taxes and regulatory burdens for businesses across America. I have a track record of helping businesses (including AANHPI-owned businesses) thrive. My opponent has increased taxes and made it more difficult to do business here in Clark County. Additionally, Clark County Commissioners are responsible for nominating local residents to nearly 40 boards and commissions. The AANHPI community is dramatically underrepresented in local government and on those boards and commissions. I promise that my appointments will include a number of AANHPI voices.

Give an example of when you helped small businesses?
When I first entered office, I championed the creation of the Clark County Office of
Community and Economic Development, making it a valuable resource for developers, new businesses or companies interested in expanding to the area. Through the Office, hundreds of small businesses have gotten access to critical resources and grant programs. As one example, at a Asian Community Development Council event in the community, a family from Thailand
spoke to me about how they fear not fully knowing the process in starting a small business due to language barriers. My team and I got working on what is now businessinclarkcounty.com, an essay-to-use portal explaining the requirements and estimated fees for aspiring small business
owners. We fought to make sure all of these services are multilingual, offering five of the most common AANHPI languages spoken in Clark County.
Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
During a luncheon with the Asian Chamber of Commerce, a constituent of mine and a small business owner reached out to me about safety concerns along Spring Mountain, especially with the rise of AANHPI hate crimes across the country. Immediately, I got in touch with the Asian Chamber of Commerce and the LVMPD Spring Valley Area Command to discuss additional police presence and collaboration between the network of businesses across Spring Mountain. As a result, in Spring Valley, robbery was reduced by 26.4%, firearm assault was reduced by 21%,
and knife assault was reduced by 25.2%. Small business owners have felt safer going to Metro directly on safety concerns and reporting crime as they see it. We also have collaborated with AANHPI organizations to increase the number of AANHPI police officers, so that we can address the language barriers that typically occur between police officers and non-English
speakers.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
From my experience in talking to my AANHPI constituents, the AANHPI community is impacted by economic, safety and health care concerns. I have worked closely with the AANHPI community, through the Asian Chamber of Commerce, Asian Community Development Center and other AANHPI groups, to provide additional resources to support AANHPI-owned small business owners. Grants provided for small businesses by Clark County have been distributed to many AANHPI businesses, keeping these businesses afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to look further by making economic development a priority for AANHPI entrepreneurs and
folks looking to create businesses. That is why, through my office, we launched “Business In Clark County”, a small business portal for those looking to open a business in Clark County. Moreso, I believe there’s room to grow, including working with business owners and commercial real estate owners to beautify and modernize their lots by providing multilingual seminars, grant
programs, and data-driven best practices.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I am blessed to serve my community on the County Commission and am proud of the work that I have accomplished to date, but I know there is so much more to do. I am the best candidate for the job because I have a proven record of putting people over politics and working collaboratively with partners in the community to make Clark County the best place to live, work and raise a family. I want to make sure we’re addressing the drought equitably and immediately. I want to diversify our economy so we’re not solely relying on people visiting our incredible
town. I want to improve access to health care. I want all my constituents to have access to nearby parks, trails and County amenities. I want to make sure crime is reduced in my District. If reelected, I will continue working on behalf of Clark County and my constituents to fight for the issues they care about most.

We are on the cusp of a resurgence as 2021 saw a 10% increase, but the nascent recovery is still fragile and needs a strong leader in place to solidify the recovery.

Over the last 20 years and throughout my campaign, my family and I have become a loyal customers and helped spread the word about small businesses. I feature a weekly business on my Facebook and meet with owners to discuss how I can help them. Recently I helped connect two businesses so they could partner together. Name a time or situation where you were involved with and helped the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Community?
My husband and I adopted a child from China 12 years ago. We have worked diligently to keep her culture alive in our home and to involve her in the AANHPI community here in the Las Vegas area. We spend a lot of time at businesses owned by those in the AANHPI community and serve AANHPI families in our businesses. We purchased a failing business from my son's football coach to keep a Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders' dream alive. This provided a way for him to build a large home and have his family and aging parents come from Hawaii to live with him. We kept the name and the menu and continued to provide the community with Hawaiian options for over eight years.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
I encourage others to become customers and to shop and buy locally by word and deed. I myself become a customer to help support small businesses. I promote businesses on my Facebook and by word of mouth. As a business owner, I know how important it is to give our business to those that are working hard to make it here in the Las Vegas Valley. It is not easy, with inflation at over 9.1%, and small businesses are being hit hard. Small businesses are what drive our economy and we cannot make it without them. We have already lost so many during the pandemic and now inflation. It is a one, two, punch leaving small businesses and families in its wake. I am starting a business that helps businesses when my campaign is over. I would like to create a business that helps provide resources and consults with new business owners that are not savvy about all that comes with owning a business.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?

I understand the issues first-hand that plague education in Nevada and have been working on improving education inside and outside of the classroom for 32 years. I understand the issues that face our police and fire department and have been out recruiting police and paramedics. We are down 40% in officers and crime is rising.
It is simple, I care! I love Henderson and Clark County and will be an advocate for you and our families.

As an influencer and leader in the community, I will use the platforms I am given (i.e. social media) to share, promote and advocate for AANHPI small businesses. I will use events like the Mid-Summer Autumn Festival to meet more AANHPI small businesses so that we can partner and collaborate on events, mixers and additional opportunities to support one another. I will further use these as opportunities to “connect the dots” with the various chambers so that AANHPI small businesses will be promoted and supported at the various Chambers (i.e. Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
My heritage is very important to me and representing our AANHPI is even more important—especially since we are the fastest growing demographic in the U.S. and the most under-represented demographic in politics. I am the only AANHPI running for the District Court Family Division Judicial Seat (total of 6 on this ballot) and I am the most qualified because I have served as a Family Court Alternate Hearing Master for almost 4 years wherein I presided over the most complex of the Family Court proceedings – child abuse, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, juvenile delinquency, domestic violence (TPO), truancy and drug court. As a former children’s attorney -- who received Congressional and Senatorial Recognition for my pro bono representation of children – I have the training, background and experience to ensure that the best interests of children will remain the paramount concern in Family Court. As a former judicial officer, I was designated to lead the National Council of Family & Juvenile Court Judges Model Court Initiative: Courts Catalyzing Change wherein I was invited to appear on Face-to-Face with Jon Ralston to discuss the “elephant in the room” implicit bias and institutional bias in the child welfare system. As a judicial leader, I led courageous conversations with community leaders in government, business, health and human services, higher education, and the faith-based community to address the disproportionality and disparity of children and families of color in foster care. As the Legal & Strategic Initiatives Manager for Clark County Family Services, I convene Administrative Appeals of child welfare substantiations on a daily basis wherein I issue Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law & Determinations to either uphold or overturn agency substantiations.
As such, I have not only the judicial background, training and experience to preside as the District Court Family Division Judge; but more importantly, I have the integrity, competence and compassion to render fair, impartial, independent and competent decisions. Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Las Vegas City Council and the Mayor’s Faith Initiative Pastors & Leaders have recognized me as the City of Las Vegas Compassionate Cities Awardee for Strengthening Families. The Filipino-American Community has recognized me as the Gawad America Nevada Most Outstanding Legal & Woman of Faith Awardee. I have led the Public Awareness Subcommittee on the Blue Ribbon for Kids Commission with our Mayor Carolyn Goodman. These attest to my character, integrity and compassion to serve our community – especially our most vulnerable -- as your Family Court Judge.

I have been supporting an Asian owned business for the better part of a year, from the ground up; hiring, training, planning strategies as well as dealing with customer service issues. I continue that assistance to this day.
What opportunities do you see to promote and support AANHPI Small Businesses?
A great many businesses in the community are suffering and it is part of my plans, if elected, to focus outreach towards expanding tax credits for local small businesses, as well as publicizing important information well ahead of time so the recent property tax misfire never happens again.
Why are you the best candidate for the job?
I want to urge the public to take a look at recent failures in many government offices, but especially the Assessor. They are not interested in serving the public, they only care about what they can charge us to live here. I am running to change that, to improve customer service, to update the website and public support for Clark County. I have spent nearly 2 decades working in, and running offices, and am appalled at the poor state of how this office runs. I will bring back caring, and will fight for all Clark County locals' rights to live the American dream. Transparency and respect are what I Demand for us all, and what I will give if those who care choose to let me fix this office.
